Fascinating and thrilling reconstruction of the rise and fall of the crypto currency company OneCoin. It all started in 2016 with OneCoin’s promise that it would become the world’s biggest crypto currency. Millions of people invested money, at least partly due to the charisma of the scheme’s leaders Sebastian Greenwood and Ruja Ignatova. They used notorious pyramid scheme tactics, holding gala style meetings to whip up enthusiasm among their members to draw their own networks into buying digital currency. The protagonist of this story is Bjørn Bjercke. Soon after OneCoin approached him for his expertise he discovered all sorts of things were amiss. Bjercke decided to share this knowledge publicly, despite the life-threatening danger that would entail. The film raises questions about human nature: Why do some people look away, while others go to the barricades? And how come our craving for more is so powerful that we let ourselves be fooled? Victims talk about their motivations, and influence experts confront us with our vulnerabilities: the fear of failure and a need for belonging.

We take great joy in receiving the Main award for our film. Making a film about a scam that involves millions of people -and all these people in our film, we recognize the need for more and more people to come together, be there for each other and find more meaningful and truthful ways. The topic is a symbol of our society today and we all need to be more critical to what comes our way. If something looks like a rat, smells like a rat and walks like a rat - it’s probably a rat!

Yvann, a Swiss filmmaker of Palestinian origin travels to the Israeli settlements to come to terms with the break-up with his childhood friend, now a Jewish Settler, with whom he grew up in Switzerland. During his trip, he recalls moments spent with his friend and family in the settlement and tries to understand why their friendship didn't hold up in the face of the political situation. Throughout this exploration, Yvann reveals his own tragic family history in Palestine. An emotional exploration of friendship and identity, through the brutality of the occupation and a cry for the survival of Palestinian culture.

How do we deal with deep childhood friendship when we develop into two antagonistic directions? When the dialogue dies, and with it the friendship? What began as an attempt at reconciliation becomes a cruel metaphor for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. For a deeply moving work that explores the intimate and political flaws of a fragmented reality with courage, lucidity and humanity, and its ability to bring together the intimate and the political.

The Farc Guerrilla, a History of the Future

Under the auspices of Rio Chiquito, Bruno Muel and Jean-Pierre Sergent’s 1965 report on the birth of the FARC, and Dunav Kuzmanich’s 1981 fiction film Canaguaro about the end of the Liberal guerillas, this is look back on 70 years of clandestine life in the Columbian forest. Women and men who took up arms amid profound social inequality and political violence recount their years as fighters and their return to civilian life, without disowning their past. From 2012, when the peace negotiations began, to 2022 — the story of a new struggle.

Flash Wars : Autonom Weapons, A.I. and the Future of Warfare

“Fear AI!” – “ warns Elon Musk back in 2014, joining other opinion leaders like Steve Wozniak, Noam Chomsky and Stephen Hawking in backing a petition against the development of autonomous weapons.
As Vladimir Putin stated in 2017, “Whoever leads in AI, rules the world.” Since the invasion of Ukraine, many things that seemed like science fiction have become reality. In March 2022, a Russian kamikaze drone controlled by artificial intelligence, known as a ZALA KYP was shot down in Kiev. In response, the US supplies their own models to Ukraine. Private firms donate satellite internet and AI-surveillance software that can track corpses and looters. Russia threatens to hit the UK with an autonomous nuclear torpedo, while China watches carefully from the sidelines and emerging high-tech powers like Turkey strike deals with both sides. The AI arms race that experts had warned about for years is now real. It will not only shape the wars of the future but is also transforming the way we think about security at the “homefront”, with police and private security forces are hungry for new tech. AI promises superiority in all weapon categories, higher efficiency and a dramatic increase of operational speed. So dramatic, in fact, that observers fear that AI-driven conflicts could escalate so quickly, that human actors will not be able to react in time. They point to scenarios from the financial markets where so called “Flash Crashes” – triggered by competing algorithms – have become frequent, but remain little understood.
They see a real danger of humanity losing control over its war-machines. ‘Flash Wars’ dives into the disturbing world of autonomous weapons. We explore why it’s so hard to teach morality to an AI and think about ways that autonomous weapons could make future wars more humane. And we follower ex-hacker Alberto Pelliccione into a secret world of spy software, military contractors and cyberweapons sold by European companies to authoritarian regimes. First, there was the invention of gunpowder, then the atomic bomb. Now we find ourselves at the threshold of another dramatic escalation in the field of armed conflict.
