"All the Tired Horses" deftly portrays the struggles of a young marketing employee grappling with the demands of modern work life, employing narrative and imagination with outlook and humor. Through irony, it offers insightful commentary on our societal norms, urging us to reconsider the balance between professional ambition and personal well-being in an era where productivity often eclipses happiness.

JURY DECLARATION

The jury were impressed by the space the movie creates by choosing an own rhythm allowing the the audience to fill in associations, reflections and thoughts. Where ever water touches land impulses are created about life , about time, with which the movie also experiments . Obviously choosing not to be a classical narrative movie , somehow enrolls a lot of thoughts resonating with us.

JURY DECLARATION

The Shore is a film that I made with my son, Walter, over an entire year to coincide with the changing seasons, which was necessary for the themes of ageing, growth, and separation. To make it feasible to shoot over such a long time, it was mostly just Walt and myself with a small camera shooting in the National Park on the coast of North Holland. I planned the film carefully based on the location I knew so I could use available light and create a visually bold image.
I wanted the film to feel like a dream, but not at the expense of making the film impenetrable or too obscure. My hope is that it touches people emotionally because the themes cut through the film's strangeness with a universal resonance. I'm honoured to have received THE NIGHT AWARD, which perfectly encapsulates what I wanted to achieve with The Shorex

JURY AWARD FOR THE UNCOMFORTABLE JOURNEY OF GUILD

From a fixed point of view, we witness a tense bus ride in Brussels, when Samuel – a Congolese immigrant – gets on to voice his discontent with Europe.

JURY DECLARATION

In "Thank You For Your Patience", viewers find themselves literally seated inside the bus, experiencing the tension of a Brussels journey firsthand as Samuel, a Congolese immigrant, confronts colonialism and prompts uncomfortable reckonings with white guilt. The film challenges audiences to confront their own political stances and complicity in systems of oppression.
